HERE'S WHAT WE FOLLOW

Early Years Foundation Stage
(EYFS)

Every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support that enables them to fulfil their potential. Children develop quickly in the early years and a child’s experiences between birth and age five have a major impact on their future life chances. A secure, safe and happy childhood is extremely important. Good parenting and high quality early learning together provide the foundation children need to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up.

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) sets the standards that all early years’ providers must meet to ensure that children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe. It promotes teaching and learning to ensure children’s ‘school readiness’ and gives children the broad range of knowledge and skills that provide the right foundation for good future progress through school and life.

Main principles of EYFS:

Four guiding principles should shape practice in early year’s settings.  These are:

- Every child is a unique child, who is constantly learning and can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.
- Children learn to be strong and independent through positive relationships.
- Children learn and develop well in enabling environments, in which their experiences respond to their individual needs and there is a strong partnership between practitioners and parents and/or carers.
- Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates.
- The framework covers the education and care of all children in early years provision, including children with special educational needs and disabilities

Saaphalya is inspired by globally accepted Best Educational Practices and with the belief that play is a fundamental commitment within the Early Years Foundation Stage. As they play and explore, young children who are powerful learners, reach out into the world and make sense of their experiences with other people, objects and events.

How play, exploration and learning are related, however, is not as straightforward as it may seem at first glance. Our pre-school program enhances a child’s innate curiosity, skills & talents to provide a rich cultural environment which has been carefully resourced, to stimulate learning and development in children.

To ensure Holistic development, we focus on six areas of learning:
- Communication and language/Literacy
- Mathematics/ Numeracy
- Personal, social and emotional development
- Knowledge and understanding of the world
- Physical development
- Expressive arts and design

Grades Details

Pre-nursery: 1 ½ – 2 ½ years
  • We at Head Smart know how important your baby is for you. We will care your baby with the same importance and effort. We ensure continuity of the safe environment and routine from their home to pre nursery.
  • We introduce activities to meet their natural curiosity, growing energy and overall development. They experiment with the properties of matter at the sand and water activity areas. They learn language when they sing songs together and have fun playing with new friends.
  • In an environment filled with encouragement, your child will experience early success for future developments.
Nursery: 2 ½ – 3 ½ years
  • Nursery children take those same baby steps away from the familiar information that they are comfortable with into a bigger, abstract world that is more innovative.
  • A Nursery child’s brain is just beginning to grasp a few concepts at the same time, and then to make connections between those concepts. In this year the foundation for learning is laid with fun activities and exposed to personal, emotional, social and physical development. Emphasis is also given to independence in basic and necessary life habits.
  • The children will develop the prime areas which are most essential for their future health and learning.
K1: 3 ½ – 4 ½ years
  • In KI, children first learn “how to learn.” They begin to form their attitudes toward school and to see themselves as learners.
  • It is stated that ‘children develop understandings of themselves and their world through active, hands-on investigation’. Children develop a range of skills and processes such as problem solving, enquiry, experimentation, hypothesizing, researching and investigating. Children transfer and adapt what they have learned from one context to another. You can see this in the children’s ‘writing’. Children use “invented spelling” by writing in ways that make sense to them. Children will resource their own learning by connecting with people, place, technologies and natural and processed materials.
  • These experiences show our K I children the power that learning holds.
K2: 4 ½ – 5 ½ years
  • The children are exposed to a range of learning opportunities where they are able to experiment, have fun, learn from experience and grow in confidence.
  • The teacher supports each child through focus led learning and help them build literacy, mathematical, socio emotional and creative skills. The strong preschool experiences will help a child think, solve problems, master difficult task. We at Head Smart create opportunities for structured and unstructured play & learning.
  • The children are supported & encouraged with learning and development to ensure smooth transition to primary schooling.
  • We work to provide an enabling environment in which each child has the opportunity to become happy, confident and independent learner, how will achieve their future challenges with full potential.
